Lautaro MartÃnez scored the only goal of the game as Inter secured a 1-0 win over Rome at the Stadio Olimpico.
Scorers: Lautaro MartÃnez 60′
Inter travelled to the capital looking to keep up with early pace-setters Napoli and Juventus at the top of Serie A.
And it was the Nerazzurri who looked most dangerous early on with Marcus Thuram forcing a good save from Mile Svilar inside 10 minutes.
It was a first half of few chances though with neither side really able to show their true attacking potential.
Into the second half and once again it was a dogged midfield battle that burst into life on the hour mark.
Lautaro MartÃnez had been quiet up to that point but found space inside the area and finished off a counter-attack to give Inter a lead.
It was a strike of special importance to the Argentina international as he became the club’s joint-record non-Italian goalscorer alongside Istvan Nyers with 133.
As Roma pushed for an equaliser, space opened up at the back, and Federico Dimarco almost added a second were it not for some last-ditch defending from Gianluca Mancini.
But that was how it stayed as Inter secured a hard-fought victory.
