PRINCE GEORGE – The 11th annual Cougars Alumni Charity Golf Tournament set a new record for funds raised, as more than $240,00 was donated to Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation through the tournament.
“This is by far our biggest golf tournament yet. We had 38 alumni that all came into town and came out to support us. The alumni alone raised over $100,000, so we’re so grateful,” said the Foundation’s Marketing and Development Manager Amanda Holmes.
Prior to this tournament the previous ten years of the Cougars Alumni Tournament raised around $750,000, so this year’s event was substantially higher than normal years.
“We attribute that to our sponsors, our donors, the teams that played, nobody held back. Those guys and girls were spending money, knowing that it’s all going for cardiac care here in the North,” Holmes said.
