A young Winnipeg man is in custody after a Christmas morning home invasion sent another man to hospital, police say.
Officers responded to a report of a person entering a townhouse off St. Mary’s Road, in the River Park South neighbourhood, around 3 a.m. Wednesday, police previously said.
They found a 36-year-old man suffering from an assault with “an edged weapon,” police said. He was taken to hospital in an unstable condition, but had since improved.
Officers arrested a 19-year-old man a short distance away from the townhouse during a “secondary incident,” before later determining he had been involved in the home invasion, police said in a Thursday update.
He was charged with breaking and entering and committing aggravated assault, as well as possession of a weapon, and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking, police said.
