Two youths are facing charges after the killing of a 30-year-old man on Thursday, according to the Regina Police Service.
Police say that at approximately 5:50 p.m. the RPS received a report of a seriously injured man in the area of 8th Avenue and Retallack Street.
When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the ground with injuries consistent with stab wounds. Officers provided first aid until EMS arrived.
But despite continued life-saving measures, the victim, 30 year-old Charles Russell Thompson, succumbed to his injuries on scene.
The RPS Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from Community Services Division patrol officers, Crime Reduction Team, Street Crimes Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, launched an investigation.
This resulted in the arrest of two 15 year-old males on on Friday. The youths, who cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged.
The first teen is charged with second-degree murder and failure to comply with a release order. The second teen is also charged with second-degree murder and failure to comply with a release order, as well as carrying a concealed weapon.
Both 15-year-olds will make their first appearance on these charges in Regina Youth Court Monday at 9:30 a.m.
This is the sixth homicide of 2024, according to police.
