Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after another collision in Toronto involving a reportedly stolen vehicle left four people injured.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday in the intersection of Eglinton Avenue and Brimley Road in Scarborough.
According to police, four people were taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Four people were also taken into custody, though early Tuesday a police spokesperson was unable to say whether any of those taken to hospital were among those arrested.
One of the two vehicles involved in the collision was allegedly stolen, police say.
Images from the scene showed one vehicle had a crushed front end, while the other had significant damage to its rear.
A TTC bus shelter was also damaged.
The police spokesperson said there was no ongoing pursuit at the time of the crash.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate. More information is expected later this morning.
The SIU is an independent agency that investigates police conduct in incidents that results in death, serious injury, the discharge of a firearm or allegations of sexual assault.
The crash comes just a week after nine people were hurt when an allegedly stolen BMW slammed into a TTC bus in North York.
Three people were charged in a home invasion and carjacking investigation linked to that collision.
