“I came here around noon, and the line was really huge. We put the application on the internet and were told that an interview would be taken. But nothing like that happened. People are just coming here. I don’t believe there is scope of jobs here. It is really tough,” job seeker Agamvir Singh reportedly said.
A video that went viral on social media showed students—mostly Indians—lining up outside a Canadian restaurant to interview for jobs. Concerns have been raised by foreign students wishing to relocate to Canada for jobs or higher education because of the alleged film, which purportedly depicts thousands of students waiting in line outside Tandoori Flame restaurant to apply for waiter and servant positions.

Another added, “It’s so bad, its like everyone is looking for a job and no one is getting a job properly. So many of my friends don’t have a job right now, and they have been here for 2-3 years.”
However, ET Now cannot independently verify the authenticity of the video.
The video’s depiction of the scenario sparked intense internet responses. A user said, “Alarming, if true. Canada is facing massive unemployment. Didn’t see this number of youths lined up for a job at new restaurants even in India.” Another pointed out, “They will accept any job there but feel shy doing the same job here in India. Of course working conditions and payments are far better than India in Canada.”
“It’s alarming to see 3,000 students, mainly from India, lining up for waiter and servant jobs in Brampton. This reflects the harsh reality of unemployment in Trudeau’s Canada. Those leaving India for dreams need a serious reality check!,” another user wrote.
Certain remarks alluded to more fundamental problems with the study abroad program. One person said, “The worst part is that most of them are engineers, MBA holders, and IT engineers who had jobs in India with up to 100k RS a month salary coming here for the Canada dream !! These students are depressed and struggling! Everything that glitters is not gold!!! Stay away.”
“The problem is that they will accept any job there but feel shy doing the same job here in India. Of course working conditions and payments are far better than India in Canada,” another one wrote.
Another commenter described the incident as tragic, writing, “Heartbreaking scenes from Brampton: 3,000 students, mostly Indian, line up for waiter jobs after a single restaurant opening. Is Trudeau’s Canada the land of opportunity or broken dreams?” (sic)
Earlier this month, Canada made the announcement that it would tighten regulations governing foreign workers and limit the amount of study permits it would issue to international students. This decision will have an effect on a large number of Indians.
This year, we are awarding 35% fewer permits to international students. Additionally, that figure will decline by an additional 10% in 2019 “Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has shared on X.
“Immigration is an advantage for our economy – but when bad actors abuse the system and take advantage of students, we crack down,” he had stated.
