Lunenburg RCMP are investigating after a hitchhiker was injured and had his bag stolen when a driver stopped and appeared willing to pick him up.
Police responded around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 7 to a report of a robbery on Pinegrove Road near Bridgewater, N.S., according to an RCMP news release.
Investigators learned a white Chevrolet Malibu stopped near the man and the male driver approached him. Police said the driver placed the hitchhiker’s bag in the trunk and fled in the car northwest on Highway 10 toward New Germany.
The hitchhiker was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries related to the incident, according to RCMP.
Police said the driver was described as five feet 11 inches with a smaller build, a mustache and short, dark, messy hair. He was wearing sneakers, jeans, and a green and black plaid short-sleeved shirt.
RCMP also said the man had a South Shore accent.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Lunenburg District RCMP or Crimestoppers.
