Jonathan Clauss (32) was a surprise omission from OGC Nice’s matchday squad as they prepared to face AS Monaco in Sunday’s Côte d’Azur derby.
After his absence was confirmed, Nice revealed that the France international was suffering from muscular discomfort. His absence ultimately did not have an effect on the result, with Le Gym beating their local rivals 2-1. However, Clauss remains a key player for Nice, and Franck Haise will want the marauding full-back operational as quickly as possible.
Speaking in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Franck Haise provided an update on Clauss. “We knew that he had an adductor that was tight so wanted to re-examine it. He was still uncomfortable. It’s not serious but tests showed a bit of something so I took the decision to not let him play. He will be back quickly probably,” said Haise. Les Aiglons will be hoping to count on them when they face Stade Brestois on Saturday.
