CHAMPLAIN, N.Y. (WCAX) – A heads-up if you’re traveling to Canada– starting in January there will be new hours at some border crossings in our region.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says cutting the hours at some crossings will allow them to funnel resources to the busiest ports of entry.

In Vermont, that includes ports of entry in Alburgh, Canaan, North Troy and West Berkshire.

Beginning at midnight on Jan. 6, 2025, the new hours at those crossings will be:

• Alburgh, Vermont – 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
• Canaan, Vermont – 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
• North Troy, Vermont – 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
• West Berkshire, Vermont – 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

The crossings in Alburgh Springs and Derby Line will keep their current hours:

• Alburgh Springs – 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
• Derby Line (Route 5) – 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

In New York, the crossings in Chateauguay, Trout River, Rouses Point and Overton Corners will cut their hours.

Beginning at midnight on Jan. 6, 2025, the new hours at those ports of entry will be:

• Chateauguay, New York – 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Trout River, New York – 6 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Rouses Point, New York – 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
• Overton Corners, New York – 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

The crossings in Champlain and Fort Covington will still be open 24-7.

In New Hampshire, the Pittsburg crossing will keep its current hours of 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
