Get ready, travellers! One of the best days to book flights throughout the year is coming, but it’s not Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
If you’re already dreaming of 2025 travel and are hoping for some cheap flights from Canada to get you there, you’re in luck. One of the biggest days of the year for travel is just days away and you can score serious savings by skipping Back Friday entirely.
Travel Tuesday, which follows Cyber Monday, will fall on December 3 this year, and it’s a great time to maximize travel savings. According to online travel marketplace Hopper, more travel deals were available on Travel Tuesday last year than on Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined.
In fact, in 2023, Travel Tuesday had 83% more travel deals than Cyber Monday and more than double the deals available on Black Friday. So, if you’re looking for big discounts, it might actually pay to hold off.
Hopper is predicting more big deals for travellers this year, including its own offers like 50% off and discounts on over 10,000 hotel properties in destinations worldwide.
The company also suggests looking for discounts from airlines such as Play Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Fiji Airways, French Bee, Norse Airways, Scandinavian Airlines, and Singapore Airlines, to name a few.
Hopper partners that are also expected to have Travel Tuesday discounts include Destination DC, Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, Discover Puerto Rico, San Diego Tourism Authority, Tourism Australia, Tourism New Zealand, VISIT FLORIDA, Visit Philadelphia and more.
Similarly, the travel experts at Skyscanner suggest looking out for big deals on December 3, as “most Canadian and international airlines start to roll out their deals on the Monday night before Travel Tuesday.”
This means that on Tuesday morning, shoppers will be able to snag some of the lowest possible prices, saving an average of 15% to 25% off the price of tickets.
Other notable airlines known for offering Travel Tuesday deals are Air Canada, United Airlines, JetBlue and Air France, according to Skyscanner.
Travel Tuesday tips
However, before you start booking flights to every destination on your bucket list, Skyscanner suggests carefully checking for hidden fees, especially for essentials like checked bags, carry-on luggage, and in-flight meals.
Their travel experts recommend reviewing airline policies to understand exactly what’s included and what’s not—especially for long-haul flights, where comfort and amenities like Wi-Fi or seat selection can make a big difference.
For travellers flying to or from cities with multiple airports, such as Toronto or London, they also recommend comparing options to find the most convenient and cost-effective routes.
Being flexible with travel dates and destinations can also dramatically improve your savings. Midweek flights or off-peak seasons tend to be the cheapest, but it’s always smart to double-check for overlapping events that could drive up accommodation costs.
Similarly, if you’re open to exploring alternative destinations, you’ll likely find even better deals. For example, instead of Paris, consider Lyon or Marseille for a less tourist-heavy experience at a much lower cost.
Finally, in previous years, Hopper has said that the best time to score a deal is earlier in the day, so don’t wait around if you spot the perfect flight or deal at the perfect price!
Godspeed, travellers!
