There are new menu items at Starbucks and McDonald’s locations across Canada.
McDonald’s is making the changes as part of a new partnership with a former employee, Lil Yachty, who is now a rapper. He has partnered with McDonald’s Canada on his own remix of the original 1989 McDonald’s Menu Song.
To go with this, McDonald’s is introducing a Remix Menu at participating restaurants in Canada. From now until April 29, the Remix Menu “brings guests’ twists on classic menu items,” inspired by their own “hacked” remixes of their favourite orders, McDonald’s said in a news release.
The Remix Menu features:
• A Chicken Cheeseburger: A combo of a crispy chicken patty and a Canadian beef patty, topped with processed cheddar cheese, a pickle, onions, ketchup and mustard on a toasty bun.
• Surf ‘N Turf Burger: Two Canadian beef patties and a Filet-O-Fish patty, topped with two slices of processed cheddar cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup and mustard on a toasty bun.
• Sweet Chili Junior Chicken: Made with crispy seasoned chicken and topped with shredded lettuce, tangy sweet chili Thai sauce and mayo-style sauce, all on a toasty bun.
• Apple Pie McFlurry: Soft-serve vanilla swirled together with caramel sauce and pieces of McDonalds’ Baked Apple Pie.
The new song and menu items are garnering some passionate reactions online.
“My stomach started growling watching this,” learlife_taybandz wrote after watching the video.
Starbucks, meanwhile, is also introducing a new menu item; specifically, a beverage.
On April 2, Starbucks began offering the new Lavender Oat Chill, hand-shaken and caffeine-free and made with lavender, creamy oat beverage and a scoop of diced dragon fruit.
The new drink is already getting some accolades online.
“I was surprised at how much I lived the lavender cold foam,” Andrea Lisk said, adding, “yummy.”
Emily Wang said she changed up her new beverage and enjoyed it.
“I had it hot and less suger, and it is tasty,” she said.
Will you be trying any of the new menu items at Starbucks and/or McDonald’s?
