Timothée Chalamet is the latest celebrity to embrace method dressing.
The actor, 28, appeared at the Friday, Dec. 13, premiere of his latest film, A Complete Unknown, a biopic of Bob Dylan. Chalamet dressed as Dylan when he appeared at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of his film Masked and Anonymous in 2003.
At the N.Y.C. premiere, Chalamet wore a Celine black leather jacket and vintage pure black denim pants, replicating Dylan’s edgy look from two decades prior. Like Dylan, 83, Chalamet wore a red plaid flannel underneath his leather jacket and topped it off with a gray plaid scarf.
But Chalamet’s recreation didn’t stop there. The Oscar nominee also arrived at the event with a blonde hairdo, just like Dylan’s 2003 locks. He sported a light blue-gray beanie, and his blond bangs peeked out across his forehead.
Chalamet replicated the look down to the facial hair. While the actor confessed on the Dec. 12 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that his thin mustache is for the project he’s currently filming, Marty Supreme, it worked in his favor when mimicking Dylan’s look.

Chalamet’s look comes ahead of the upcoming release of the Dylan biopic, which follows the singer’s early life and career as he rose to prominence in the 1960s. In addition to Chalamet, the movie — cowritten by director James Mangold and Jay Cocks — also stars Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Edward Norton, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz, Eriko Hatsune, Big Bill Morgenfield, Scoot McNairy and Will Harrison.
Chalamet, who has already generated buzz for his performance, got Dylan’s stamp of approval in a Dec. 4 X (formerly known as Twitter) post.
“There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!),” Dylan began. “Timothée Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”
The musician continued, “The film’s taken from Elijah Wald’s Dylan Goes Electric – a book that came out in 2015. It’s a fantastic retelling of events from the early ‘60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport. After you’ve seen the movie read the book.”
Chalamet later reposted Dylan’s comments alongside the sweet reply, “Floored. I am so grateful. Thank you Bob.”
