It’s finally official.
After much testing at several locations across Canada, Tim Hortons will make it official on Wednesday (April 17) when it starts selling flatbread pizza.
“We’ve been working hard on developing new and exciting menu innovations for lunch and dinner at Tim’s … and now after a thorough process of testing and recipe fine-tuning, we’re so excited to be launching flatbread pizzas for our guests across Canada,” said Hope Bagozzi, chief marketing officer for Tim Hortons.
The pizzas are served hot after being prepared fresh to order and oven-baked, the company said.
Options include a Simple Cheese Pizza for $6.99 with mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheeses with tomato sauce on a roasted garlic flatbread, a Bacon Everything Flatbread Pizza ($7.99 with double-smoked bacon, herb and garlic cream cheese, mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheeses on a roasted garlic flatbread topped with everything seasoning), a Chicken Parmesan Flatbread Pizza ($7.99 and made with chicken, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheeses and tomato sauce on a roasted garlic flatbread) and a Pepperoni Flatbread Pizza ($7.99 and comes with pepperoni, mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheeses with tomato sauce on a roasted garlic flatbread).
“They’re a really satisfying workday lunch for yourself and also make for a crowd-pleasing option for family dinners or weekend gatherings by picking up a few boxes with a mix of flavours,” Bagozzi said.
Starting on May 1, customers can order flatbread pizza through the Tim Hortons app.
The announcement has garnered some strong, mixed reactions online.
“They’ve had it out west for a while. I hear good reviews,” Marion Sobey said on Facebook.
Marie Salah said on Facebook she had it in Toronto last year during the testing process and it was “very good, but will definitely cause back up at the drive thru as (it) takes about 10 minutes to prepare from what I remember.”
On X, formerly known as Twitter, people are expressing their opinions.
“The sauce and cheese was delicious and the bread/crust … was so crispy and buttery,” @viennatho wrote.
This announcement comes just a few days after the coffee house giant unveiled several new menu items — including food and drinks — at restaurants and coffee shops across Canada.
