CSS football to kickoff international game in Canada
This Saturday Canada will be hosting a College of St. Scholastica (CSS) football game. The Saints are trekking across the border to battle the Winnipeg Rifles junior team.
This will mark CSS’ first international exhibition match since 2013. Under NCAA rules, a football team can play an international game once every three years.
The Winnipeg Rifles compete in the Canadian Junior Football League, designed for players ages 17-22.
Some rules will vary. There are four downs at all times. When CSS is on offense it will be American rules (11-on-11), and when Winnipeg is on offense it will be Canadian rules (12-on-12). Defense and Special teams will be also played under Canadian rules.
The game is Saturday at 1 p.m. at at Maple Grove Park in Winnipeg.
