WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — During the summer travel season, TSA is gearing up to be ready for the largest amount of people all year — but one local airport was already seeing an increase before the season even started.
In March, the Williston Basin International Airport saw 7,415 flyers, more than they saw in the same month the year before. Then numbers in April showed a rise of more than 1,000 travelers.
Anthony Dudas, the director for the Williston Basin International Airport, says that on Tuesday evening the city commission approved an extension of a revenue guarantee agreement with Skywest Airlines which operates Delta Airlines, and that Delta and United have increased the size of the airplanes they are using in Williston.
“We are finally over the capacity that we experienced pre-COVID,” added Dudas, “so when I mention capacity, that is the seats available for purchase.”
The Williston Basin Airshow is in August.
