ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Local sports group and News 8 partner Primetime 585 hosted it’s 19th annual Coach Iglesia Free Basketball Camp Sunday.
The free camp provides 175 athletes selected from across dozens of schools throughout Section V the opportunity to train, compete and learn with their fellow basketball comrades.
In addition to basketball, participants also engage in life skills workshops hosted by guest speakers covering a variety of topics, some of which include mental health.
“I think it’s something that is a very good resource that they use and being able to compete against other people that you don’t go to school with or maybe people you don’t even know can build your skillset and you just grow as a player and a person altogether,” Co-Director and coach Brianne Moxley said.
Sessions for the camp run through July 3, where groups will have playoffs featuring WNBA and NBA notables on site.
