While there has been a lot of talk about how Zach Wilson’s career will fare in Denver, there is something else about the fourth-year quarterback getting more chatter.
On Tuesday, Wilson’s new slicked-back hairdo went viral after the NFL posted three photos of the ex-Jet to its social media accounts with the caption, “New look in Denver for @zachwilson.”
Wilson, 24, is clearly eager to reset in more ways than one to kick off his fresh start with the Broncos after three lackluster seasons with Gang Green.
However, football fans were quick to crash Wilson’s Broncos hair parade.
“zach wilson went to the broncos and turned into bo callahan,” one X user wrote.
“Zach Wilson’s new hairstyle makes him look like he’s playing Brock Osweiler in a new Disney Channel movie that absolutely nobody asked for,” Joe Beldner of the Fantasy Footballers posted.
NFL analyst known as Linsey Ok said, “That is little rocky from Christmas vacation actually.”
Others followed suit, pointing to Dash from “The Incredibles” and an extra on “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
The No. 2 overall pick in 2021 was drafted as hopeful future franchise quarterback that the Jets have been endlessly searching for, yet he was everything but.
During his three seasons, he completed 57 percent (566 of 993) of his passes for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.
He also rushed for 498 yards and five touchdowns and had 17 fumbles in which 12 were lost.
Wilson saw a starting role in 13 games as a rookie, but missed time in the middle of the season due to a knee injury.
In his second year, he dealt with another preseason injury, and last year, he had the opportunity to step up after Aaron Rodgers went down with an ACL tear.
His performance wasn’t enough to earn the Jets’ trust and thus landed in a new home for the upcoming season after the Broncos gave a sixth-round pick to the Jets in exchange for Wilson and a seventh-round pick.
Wilson is the new face for the Broncos after their fallout with former quarterback Russell Wilson, who led Denver to a 8-9 season last year with head coach Sean Payton.
