SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The UC Santa Barbara Men’s Tennis team added to their already impressive 2024 recruiting class with the addition of Diogo Morais who will be transferring in from Georgia State.
Morais spent two seasons with the Panthers where he played in the middle of the lineup in singles competition and all over the lineup in doubles action. In his first season at Georgia State he finished with a team-best 12-9 record in singles play while posting six victories in doubles. He highlighted the Panthers quarterfinal victory over Louisiana in the Sun Belt Conference Championships with a straight-set victory to secure the match 4-0.
During his sophomore season, he charted a 10-11 singles record and a 9-10 doubles record. Additionally, he posted a winning record in conference play for the second straight season going 6-2. Over his two seasons, he finishes with a 12-5 record in the Sun Belt. Again his season was highlighted by a comeback victory in the quarterfinals of the SBC Championships, this time to secure a victory over Troy.
Morais will join a Gaucho team that won the regular season title and fell just short of their 16th Conference Championship in The Big West Finals. The team ended the season going 15-7 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference play.
