MIAMI, OK — The NEO Men’s Basketball Program is helping to give back to their community as they are in the midst of hosting their “Golden Norse Youth Basketball Camp”.
The camp started on Monday and will wrap up tomorrow. There are two sessions for the campers with the first session being for ages 6-11 and the afternoon session for ages 12-15.
The camp was run by a few NEO players and the NEO coaching staff.
They took the campers through different drills and competitions.
We caught up with some NEO coaches and a player to discuss what was going on throughout the week and a few campers on what they are enjoying the most at the camp.
Head Coach Jeremy Jackson said, “You want to develop a line of basketball coming up through the ranks of the elementary schools, to the junior high, to the high schools. And it just keeps that cycle going”.
NEO Forward/Center Chris Mason said, ” I mean, it’s awesome. It’s awesome to see just the progression within a day. Some of them already have, so it’s pretty cool to see”.
Assistant Coach Blake Mills said, “Everything’s a two way street with with our players, with the community. You know, you got to give respect to get it type of thing. And you know, we want the community to support us. So we’re going to do our best to support them as well”.
Youth Campers Taygan, Cason & Landen said, “It’s been kind of really it’s been really fun. and it now going throughout this camp It’s been really fun.
