The Spurs are back in action, just a week and a half after the draft. Tonight’s game in Sacramento features this year’s draft picks and a the Spurs two-way players, along with some young players who are looking to secure a training camp invitation. It will be fun to watch guys like Nathan Mensah and Riley Minix as they showcase their talents in front of an audience of scouts and NBA superfans in Sacramento.
It will be the first chance for Spurs fans to see Stephon Castle and Harrison Ingram to play in the Silver and Black, but it’s unknown how much they’ll play. Sidy Cissoko is out for the California Classic games recovering from surgery, but is expected to play in Las Vegas next week. Jameer Nelson Jr.’s first game for the Spurs will be playing against the team that his dad spent most of his career playing for, which might bring back some nice memories for the kid.
The Spurs will be coached tonight by Petteri Koponen, whose contract rights were just acquired by the Knicks after a 17 year draft and stash.
