On Monday, the Fédération Française de Basketball (French Basketball Federation) officially announced the roster of the men’s and women’s national teams. We already reported that Washington Wizards guard Bilal Coulibaly made the men’s national yesterday. And here is the X post from la fédération itself.
Here is the men’s national team roster, along with the team each player is on:
Five players on Les Bleus are on NBA teams, including Coulibaly.
Here is the women’s national team roster, along with the team each player is on:
While Les Bleues (feminine groups have slightly different spellings in French) have no WNBA players right now (as in the 2024 regular season to date), Johannes, Rupert and Williams have previous WNBA playing experience and played in the WNBA in 2023. Williams specifically is a dual American-French citizen, and grew up in the USA, playing college basketball at Connecticut from 2014-18.
Lacan was a first round draft pick by the Connecticut Sun this year, though she is a draft-and-stash. Fauthoux was also a 2021 WNBA draft pick but never came stateside.
Given that Bullets Forever covers the Washington Wizards and Mystics, we’re focusing the bulk of our French basketball attention on the men’s team because Coulibaly is there.
That said, Les Bleues will play against Canada which has Aaliyah Edwards and Australia which has Jade Melbourne. So if you don’t know who’s on the French women’s team, now you do.
