Aldi is one of my favorite places to shop for groceries, but unfortunately the closest Aldi locations to me are all more than a 25-minute drive away. Since there are lots of closer grocery stores, I don’t do my weekly grocery shopping at Aldi. But if I happen to pass an Aldi while running errands, I always try to stock up on a few must-have Aldi products, including the Southern Grove chili-lime cashews. I throw these cashews in my cart every time I stop into an Aldi because I love how each cashew is perfectly seasoned with a slightly spicy chili blend that has just a hint of citrus-y lime flavor.
Besides the great taste, here are three reasons I keep Aldi’s Southern Grove cashews stocked in my pantry whenever I can. Here’s why they’re a staple in my cart:
There are many health benefits to snacking on cashews. A 1-ounce serving of dry-roasted cashews packs 4 grams of protein, a healthy dose of vitamin K and essential minerals like copper, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc and iron. What’s more, the chili-lime seasoning on Aldi’s Southern Grove cashews is flavorful and delicious with the perfect amount of spicy chili and a refreshing hint of citrus. The chili-lime coating has all the excitement of less-healthy snack foods like flavored potato chips or pretzels, only with a healthier fat content that makes me feel more satiated and satisfied for a longer period after eating them.
Aldi’s Southern Grove cashews come in a 10-ounce bag that’s resealable, so they stay fresh even when you pull a handful of nuts out of the bag a few times a day to snack on. When I’m tracking my nutritional needs more closely, I sometimes use my food scale to weigh out 1-ounce servings into snack-size storage bags so I get the correct portion size every time. This hack also makes it easy to take the perfect amount of chili-lime cashews along with me on the go, as a snack-size bag fits into my purse way more easily than a 10-ounce one. This means I can have these flavorful and satisfying chili-lime cashews on hand while I’m out running errands.
My favorite 10-ounce bag of Aldi Southern Grove chili-lime cashews costs just over $5. Since each serving is just 1 ounce, this makes for an inexpensive snack at around 50 cents per ounce. Cashews, especially ones flavored with seasoning blends, can cost way more at other grocery stores, so these flavorful nuts make a great budget-friendly snack option for those who want the satiating qualities of nuts without spending a ton on the healthy snack food.
Next time you pass an Aldi, make sure to pick up my favorite Aldi snack: Southern Grove chili-lime cashews. And be sure to stock up, as the first bag you try is likely to go fast—they really are that good. There are also additional varieties of Southern Grove cashews, like everything bagel, salt and pepper and dill pickle, so I often grab a few bags of other flavors too. And while you’re there perusing the aisles, don’t miss Aldi’s wide variety of healthy grocery items, from bronze-cut pasta to pasture-raised eggs, as well as frozen sushi-grade tuna steaks and an impressive variety of artisanal cheeses.
