Let’s face it, Amazon is the one-stop-shop for practically everything. And truth be told, it’s where we go to time and time again to make repeat purchases of the items we love most, whether that’s a trusty beauty pick, handy household essential or a bulk buy of our favourite food and drink. It’s also the retailer that, more often than not, provides the best deal and fastest delivery, which, in turn, makes the shopping experience a lot easier and more convenient.
So, with Amazon Prime Day in full swing and convenience at the top of our minds, we’ve pulled together a list of our favourite items to buy directly from Amazon, items Yahoo UK’s shopping team can’t stop repurchasing — including everything from great value bulk buys of toilet roll, to affordable skincare gems, replacement toothbrush heads and more.
Buying my dishwasher tablets from Amazon mean I often get the best deal, and they get delivered straight to my doorstep.
⏰ Tested for: Two years
💸 Reasons to buy: I’ve found that bulk buying household essentials like dishwasher tablets while they’re on offer has saved me tons of money, and more importantly, time. Not just that, but these in particular feature a Glass Protect technology which effectively protects your glasses, keeping them sparkling for longer. There’s also the fact they last ages.
✋ Reasons to avoid: It’s a big bag, so make sure you have somewhere to store it. When they’re not on offer, they’re quite expensive.
Bulk buying loo roll may not be glamorous but it certainly is practical and cost-effective.
⏰ Tested for: Two years
💸 Reasons to buy: There are certain purchases that just make your life easier and one of those for me is the hugely popular Andrex loo roll bulk buy on Amazon. I first discovered it about two years ago and have never looked back. The rolls are thick, soft and gentle and thanks to Amazon Prime, arrives the next day.
✋ Reasons to avoid: You can find cheaper bulk buys, for example Splesh currently has 72 rolls on sale on Amazon for a bargain £23.99.
I’m convinced this keeps my washing me in tip-top shape.
⏰ Tested for: Two years
💸 Reasons to buy: Out of all the washing machine cleaners I’ve tried (and trust me, there’s a lot) this is by far the easiest and most effective. There’s no fiddling with the detergent drawer, and little hands-on time is required — instead, you just pour the cleaning powder directly into the drum and stick it on a cycle. The end result is a sparkling clean washing machine drum scented with fresh lemon. Clean washing machine, clean clothes! As for usage, I use this once a month.
✋ Reasons to avoid: One box equals just one clean.
This budget-friendly moisturiser outperforms many of my luxurious face creams.
⏰ Tested for: Two weeks
💸 Reasons to buy: It’s hydrating for dry skin but not greasy or heavy for oily skin, is very affordable and feels luxurious. While the packaging feels cheap and cheerful, inside is a powerhouse formula that is rich in niacinamide, pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin E that feels ultra-luxurious when applied and keeps it hydrated and smooth for hours after.
✋ Reasons to avoid: If you have very oily skin this may be too heavy for daytime use.
I’ve been buying these acne patches for the past year, and I’ve found that they’re the single-most effective way to reduce inflammation and active breakouts.
⏰ Tested for: One year
💸 Reasons to buy: As someone who has regularly had to battle with acne growing up and tried countless spot stickers, I can confirm that Dots for Spots are beyond a shadow of doubt, my favourite. Practically invisible, they’re small, one-sized, translucent stickers that use hydrocolloid to target and heal acne, working particularly well on whiteheads as well as cystic hormonal spots. I find they actively reduce the size of spots overnight, are comfortable on the skin, and don’t budge. And compared to others I have used, they’re great value for money.
✋ Reasons to avoid: I wouldn’t recommend wearing make-up while using these patches, as it makes them quite obvious, even as ultra-thin and discreet as they are.
A combination of these tabs and UniBond’s AERO 360° Moisture Absorber single-handedly stopped my clothes from smelling while drying on my airer, and majorly helped reduce condensation in my spare bedroom.
⏰ Tested for: One year
💸 Reasons to buy: Living in an old house can be a challenge, and not long after moving in did I realise fluctuating temperatures and the bones of an old house (in other words, not the best insulation) meant one thing: mould and condensation. To stop that, I invested in a non-electric, budget-friendly dehumidifier which, many refills later, has successfully proven to remove excess water, eliminate odours and prevent the growth of mould and mildew. It’s a game-changer!
✋ Reasons to avoid: Although compact in design, it’s a little bit of an eye sore.
⏰ Tested for: Six months
💸 Reasons to buy: It’s super cheap, easy to use and very reliable. It also often has better deals on it that you’ll find at the supermarket. Simply pour the contents of one sachet into a kettle that’s just boiled but only half full, making sure its unplugged, leave for 30 minutes, rinse and make a cup a tea.
✋ Reasons to avoid: Larger kettles and those with heavy scaling will need to use two sachets.
This rich ointment has been by my bedside for years, comes on every holiday and is a staple in my skincare routine.
⏰ Tested for: Five years
💸 Reasons to buy: It’s multi-purpose, and can be used to soothe dry, chapped skin on your face and body. It’s particularly brilliant if you struggle with dryness, whether that’s on your elbows and knees, you have perpetually cracked lips or suffer with sore eczema flare-ups.
✋ Reasons to avoid: Unnecessary if you don’t have any dryness to treat.
Having recently got into running, these energy chews are ideal for a burst of energy on my long runs.
⏰ Tested for: Three months
💸 Reasons to buy: They’re easy to chew while running, don’t make me feel nauseous or upset my stomach and fit easily into the pocket of my running vest. Typically I have one every 20 minutes, so with six in a pack, they tend to last a while. If you’re a regular runner, I’d recommend buying the multipack on Amazon.
✋ Reasons to avoid: They’re only necessary for longer runs.
Whenever I run out of my toothbrush heads, I head straight to Amazon to re-order for convenience and often a lower price tag.
⏰ Tested for: Six months
💸 Reasons to buy: They come in a three pack which lasts me months, are extremely affordable compared to expensive electric toothbrushes, and are made from recycled plastic so are environmentally friendly, too.
✋ Reasons to avoid: They are only compatible with a Waken electric toothbrush.
