Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Leny Yoro have been named as part of Manchester United’s 25-man squad for the league phase of this season’s Europa League.
After his half-time withdrawal in United’s harrowing 3-0 home loss to Liverpool on Sunday, the Brazilian midfielder has been linked with a loan move to Galatasaray, but it appears as if he will be sticking around at Old Trafford until at least the new year.
Malacia’s presence in the squad suggests he could be set for a long-awaited return to action. The Dutch defender, who was one of Erik ten Hag’s first signings, missed the entirety of last season with a serious knee injury, but is tentatively expected back in October.
Elsewhere, all of United’s five summer signings are named, including Leny Yoro, who has yet to make his debut for the club after suffering a foot injury in pre-season.
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, who are academy graduates, have not been included on the 25-man A-List for the competition because UEFA rules state that club-trained players born after 1 January 2003 do not have to be counted as part of the main group.
United kick off their European campaign with a home clash against ten Hag’s former side, FC Twente, on September 25th.
They will also play Rangers, PAOK and Bodo/Glimt at home, and Porto, Fenerbahce, Viktoria Plzen and FCSB away.
The full 25-man squad:
Goalkeepers: Onana, Heaton, Bayindir, Mee.
Defenders: Lindelof, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia, Yoro, Dalot, Shaw, Evans, Amass.
