Is this the worst three year period we’ve ever seen for any team in sports?
Because like the NFL is built for mediocrity to be this bad this long for a third straight year.
Frank.
Again, you’re a historian here.
How does this compare to other three year periods of just awful?
So I’m looking up Hugh Jackson’s career because, uh you know, I did, they had a really rough go of it.
Uh When, when he was with the Cleveland Browns, that’s when it comes to mind when they went winless the one season, he got fired.
Obviously, I think he was three and 34 at some point.
Like that’s, I think that’s the, the bar that’s set for the Carolina Panthers.
But also there’s no sign this is turning around the, who’s to say this doesn’t go on for another two years, right?
Like the Carolina Panthers could be bad through 2026 at this point.
Like this is, this is not like, oh, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel in 2025.
Like not really.
You gave up so much draft capital to get Bryce Young that those picks, like, look, those picks that they gave up became Caleb Williams, Jon Carter.
Uh, you know, I mean, Tyrek Stevenson, who’s a really, really good cornerback for the Bears right now.
DJ Moore, they just traded him in that trade.
They gave up a ton to get Bryce Young.
This is not just picking the wrong guy like the Raiders did with Jamarcus Russell, right?
Like this is also, this is also giving up a ton to pick the wrong guy which complicates things and yeah, it’s just, it’s rough.
It’s just bad for the Panthers right now.
I think the promise they might say, ok, we picked the wrong guy, we need to do something about it and like I admire that they would not want to just continue to try and make the wrong decision, let’s say work if they’ve decided it’s not going to.
But if that’s the case, you have to take responsibility for how you got to that decision making part at the beginning.
The only thing I’d say about the Browns as terrible as it was.
Hugh Jackson is alleged in lawsuits and everything else that the Browns were intentionally trying to basically lose their way to the top.
There is no indication that the Panthers are being intentional.
The Panthers are trying to win football games, they’re just not doing a good job of it.
