Toronto Raptors rookie Jonathan Mogbo offered a look at a pair of shoes he will wear during the upcoming season after signing an endorsement contract with Serious Player Only.
Mogbo is the first NBA player to sign with the brand, which says it was created by players for players and is known for its drop-in midsole platform. The multiyear contract has the potential to reach six figures, according to his agent, Austin Walton of NEXT Sports.
The 22-year-old is the latest known first-year player to agree to a shoe endorsement contract with a brand, joining AJ Johnson (Adidas) and Keisei Tominaga (Curry Brand). He shared a photo of the shoe this week on Instagram.
Mogbo was the 31st pick in the NBA draft after averaging 14.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals on 63.6% shooting from the field as a senior at San Francisco. He was named to the All-WCC first team after finishing as one of 16 players to average a double-double.
The 6-foot-7 forward debuted with the Raptors in the NBA Summer League, averaging 3.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and two assists on 60% shooting from the field in two appearances. He had his best game on July 14 with five points, one rebound and one assist in a win over the Denver Nuggets.
Mogbo signed a three-year, $6.11 million contract with the Raptors on July 4. He will reportedly receive the largest allowable guarantee under the second-round pick exception.
