Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has confirmed that injured duo Mason Mount and Rasmus Højlund are back in contention for a place in the side after injury.
“It’s very good news,” the Dutch boss told reporters at his pre-match press conference. “They are back on the pitch, they are back in team training and, yeah, we have to decide whether they are fit enough to start. But I think it’s very pleasing they are back with the squad.
“We have so many games also in this block to cover, so yeah, very happy. They did a couple of training [sessions]. We will have to see how they recover, and then, tomorrow, we will make a final call.”
“In top football you always go to boundaries, that is unavoidable. When you have a full squad it’s easier to manage the load but when you are in circumstances like last season and there is a need to play, we have to overload them.”
Manchester United face Crystal Palace on Saturday, and the boss was reminded of the big defeat his side suffered at their hands last season.
“It was a 4-0, totally deserved, but Saturday will be different. I don’t compare (situations). From February onwards we had to find 11 players to construct a team. Now it is 18 and we can pick one.”
The Reds currently sit 10th in the Premier League, having taken two wins from their opening four games.
