Nick Knowles has confirmed that he will be returning to the Strictly dancefloor this weekend after injuring his arm.
The DIY SOS star damaged his arm changing a tyre after his car broke down on the way to his 62nd birthday party. He ended up with his arm in a sling, leaving this Saturday night’s performance hanging in the balance.
However, as Strictly spin-off It Takes Two got under way on Thursday (26 September), host Janette Manrara revealed he would be dancing.
Fans had been wondering if Knowles would be able to dance and Manrara quickly put them out of their misery, saying: “We have an update, that Nick has been back training with Luba (Mushtuk) and will be dancing the American Smooth this weekend, Yes! Great news!
“But next time don’t change your tyre yourself Nick, get some help!” she joked.
Knowles also shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a clip of him and his pro partner Mushtuk in the studio. “It’s official and I can’t quite believe it but we are dancing on Saturday!” he said. “@lubamushtuk is a miracle worker – we’ve had a day and a half to learn the dance! Thank you for being so patient.
“American Smooth here we come.”
Knowles and Mushtuk will now perform their American Smooth to Blur’s Parklife at the weekend.
The star previously shared on It Takes Two that when he first hurt his arm he thought it was OK, but that it kept getting worse.
“We broke down on the motorway with a flat tyre,” he said. “It was raining and there were big lorries going past. So I tried to do it quickly and change the tyre quickly, and as I took the tyre off I basically damaged my bicep and damaged my arm…
“And then I went on and I was like, ‘It’s fine, I’ve hurt it but I’m OK’ and then it got worse and worse and worse.”
