AEW Dynamite Results – July 3, 2024
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with Renee Paquette backstage and introduces Daniel Garcia and Daddy Magic. Daniel Garcia says he would be lying if he said this wasn’t the most important night of his entire life. Garcia says he’s not losing tonight and puts it on his mother’s life.
MJF comes in and tells him that’s the kind of attitude that will make him a champion. Garcia tries to bring up All In again and MJF says to just focus on tonight. MJF asks to be in Garcia’s corner tonight, and Garcia accepts. Daddy Magic says he appreciates everything that MJF has done for Garcia the last couple of weeks and he’s cool in his book.
Bryan Danielson defeated PAC to advance to the finals of the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament
Renee Paquette is backstage with Willow Nightingale. Nightingale talks about her “nothing matters, smile anyways” slogan and says Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway mock her because they don’t know anything about her. Nightingale says she has a new opportunity tonight, and she’s going to knock down the door and become the first-ever two-time Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner.
Ring of Honor World Champion Mark Briscoe is in the ring and says he came close to winning the TNT Championship at Forbidden Door, but Jack Perry had a horseshoe up his ass and managed to win the title. Briscoe announces himself as the first member of Team AEW for Blood and Guts.
Jack Perry shows up and attacks Briscoe from behind with the TNT Championship and leaves him laying. Kyle O’Reilly comes in and beats down Perry until Kazuchika Okada shows up and hits O’Reilly with a Rainmaker.
Matthew and Nicholas Jackson stroll out after Okada and Perry do the dirty work and hit Briscoe with the EVP Trigger. The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn hit the ring, and The Elite escaped through the crowd before things could get physical.
Toni Storm and Mariah May are backstage. Storm hypes May up for her Owen Hart Tournament match this Friday against Hikaru Shida. Renee tries to bring up what would happen if May wins the tournament but Storm blows it off.
Willow Nightingale defeated Kris Statlander (w/ Stokely Hathaway) to advance to the finals of the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament
Renee Paquette is backstage with Jeff Jarrett, Karen Jarrett, Satnam Singh, Jay Lethal, and Sonjay Dutt. Jeff Jarrett walks away without answering Paquette’s question, and Karen and Satnam follow. Jay Lethal says the most important thing is honoring Jarrett’s friend Owen Hart.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring and introduces the returning Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. Britt Baker says she’s missed the fans and says she’s just gonna talk from the heart. Baker talks about her TIA injury, which is essentially a mini-stroke.
Britt, at that point, told Tony Khan she needed to take time off, and he said to go home and take all the time she needed. Baker says she’s cleared now, but she was very nervous coming back at Forbidden Door on Sunday and nobody caring.
Baker says the AEW fans welcomed her back with open arms, and for that, she will always be in their corner because, at the end of the day, she’s one of them. Britt says when you’re going through a rough time, be in that moment and get through it because it will feel that much better when you get out the other side.
Baker says she’s heard there’s a new female face of All Elite Wrestling, referring to Mercedes Moné, and the crowd boos. Baker buries the CEO moniker and her music and says the only three initials that matter in this company are DMD.
The Tron lights up, and Mercedes Moné shows up and is greeted by Matthew and Nicholas Jackson, who congratulate her on being a double champ and tell her that her championship celebration is ready to go. The crew brings out the items for Mercedes’ segment while Britt is still in the ring.
Baker doesn’t leave the ring as Mercedes Moné enters. The crowd chants DMD as Mercedes looks on in disgust. Mercedes Moné asks if she interrupted something as she’s out to celebrate as a double champion. Britt says she outshined Mercedes moment so she’s trying to outshine hers. Mercedes says she should have known Britt was gonna come out here and steal her spotlight. The crowd tells Mercedes to, “Shut the f*ck up.”
Britt Baker challenges Mercedes Moné to a match at All In. Mercedes says Britt needs to get to the back of the line as there’s a long line of women waiting. Baker questions what line there was as Mercedes hits her catchphrase and leaves the ring.
Renee Paquette is backstage with Will Ospreay and Kyle Fletcher. Don Callis comes in, and Renee leaves. Ospreay says he knows what Don is going to say, but he blames himself for knocking out the referee and not wanting to hit the Tiger Driver 91. Ospreay says he’s no longer that guy anymore.
Will Ospreay says he appreciates everything Callis has done for him, but he wants out of the Don Callis Family. Callis says he’s happy to do him the favor of letting him out of his contract, but he’ll return asking for a favor later. The two embrace, and Don’s face over Ospreay’s shoulder tells the story.
Chris Jericho comes to the ring and says The Elite has given the executive order that Taz must be removed from the arena, and Jericho is taking over on commentary for the rest of the night. Security is there to remove Taz from the venue.
Samoa Joe, HOOK, and Katsuyori Shibata defeated Brian Cage and The Gates of Agony
Chris Jericho, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith attack Joe, HOOK, and Shibata after the match with steel chairs and the FTW Championship. Jericho hits HOOK with a Judas Effect with brass knuckles on. Big Bill follows that up by chokeslamming HOOK through a table.
