The Boise Police Department said in a news release that detectives have identified three juveniles suspected of setting fires at the Union Block building earlier this month.
At the time, police responded to a report of smoke in the historic building and shut down nearby roads, according to previous Statesman reporting. No one was inside at the time and the building, which has been the subject of much news this year, was not damaged.
“Nearby businesses were briefly evacuated while emergency responders investigated the source of the smoke,” police said in a news release Tuesday. “Fire investigators determined the cause of the fires to be arson.”
Old kitchen and office supplies were on fire in the incident, according to the release.
The youths have not been charged, police spokesperson Haley Williams said. Possible charges have been forwarded to the Ada County prosecutor for review.
