Ever heard of a prosthodontist or a dredge operator? No? That’s probably because they’re among the rarest professions in America today. Based on the latest estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the below graphic by Visual Capitalist ranks the ten least common jobs in the US as of 2023.
The country’s least commonly held occupation overall is wood patternmaker, with just 260 people employed nationwide with an average salary of $52,330.
Following behind is clock and timer precision technician (400 employees), farm labor contractors (460) and furnace and kiln repair technicians (540).
