Working on a specific input, the Military Intelligence of the Army’s Southern Command and the police launched a joint operation on Tuesday night and arrested Sandeep Gurav from a spot near the Military Hospital in Khadki, said an officer on Wednesday.
“The probe suggests that Gurav was promising recruitment as medical assistants at the Military Hospital in Khadki and taking Rs 10 to 12 lakh from each of the aspirants. We have information about him having duped at least a dozen aspirants. We are now probing his links with some other suspects,” the officer added.
A police officer said, “Gurav was telling aspirants that he is retired from the Army and has a lot of connections that can facilitate recruitment. He is believed to have cheated people over the last three years. The probe suggests that some aspirant had even taken loans to pay him.”
