Mensik – Bublik: 01.07.2024 16:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Jakub Mensik has lost three of his last five matches. Mensik had a breakthrough season. However, the injuries stopped his great run. Last week in Mallorca, Mensik lost in the quarterfinals against Tabilo in straight sets as we predicted. So far in his career, Jakub has played only seven matches on grass, and has a losing 3-4 record. We are yet to see how good Mensik is on the grass courts. He looked uncomfortable last month on the grass. This is also his first competitive year playing on the grass courts, so we believe that he still needs some time to adjust to the surface.
Alexander Bublik has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Eastbourne, Bublik lost his first match against Vukic in straight sets. Before that, Bublik reached the 1/8-Finals in Halle where he lost against Eubanks in three tight sets. Alexander loves playing on the fast courts, and the grass court is definitely his favorite surface. Last year, Bublik won the title in Halle, where he won against Rublev in the final. After that, Alexander reached the 1/8-Finals at Wimbledon where he lost against Andrey Rublev in five tough sets.
According to the bookies, Bublik is the slight favorite in this matchup. If he comes motivated into this matchup, and plays his best tennis, we believe that Bublik will win easily. Mensik is still young and inexperienced on the grass.
That being said, Bublik covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Alexander Bublik -3.5 games handicap @1.83 @bet365
Alcaraz – Lajal: 01.07.2024 14:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting
Carlos Alcaraz has won four of his last five matches. After he lifted the trophy at the French Open as we predicted, Carlos played only one preparation tournament. Two weeks ago in London, Carlos was defeated by Jack Draper in the 1/8-Finals. The former world number 1 needs to step up his tennis and defend the title here at Wimbledon. Last year at Wimbledon, Carlos played his best tennis. En route to the title, Alcaraz won against Berrettini, Rune, Medvedev, Djokovic and some other great players.
Mark Lajal has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, Lajal played the challenger tournament in Nottingham where he lost in the final qualifying round. Here at Wimbledon so far, Lajal showed solid and confident tennis. In the first qualifying round, Lajal defeated Passaro in three tight sets. After that, Mark was yet again strong on his serve, and won the match in straight sets against Rocha. In the final qualifying round, Lajal upset Duckworth and got into the main-draw.
According to the bookies, Alcaraz is the huge favorite in this matchup. He is also one of the biggest favorites to win the title. We believe that Alcaraz will win this match easily. However, Lajal is a solid server, so we believe that he will win some easy games on his serve.
That being said, Lajal covering the games handicap is a value bet.
