Gotham City’s most notorious vigilante is also its most despised citizen, according to the new trailer for Batman: Caped Crusader. The animated series from executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm hits Prime Video August 1, but you can catch a glimpse of a certain troublemaking hero “who dresses up like Dracula” right here:
Cops, politicians, “muggers and dope-peddlers,” gangsters, sinister masterminds dressed in elaborate disguises—Batman’s surrounded by plenty of familiar foes (and the occasional ally) as he sets out to unravel season one’s central mystery, which seems to involve a mad bomber. This trailer offers our best reveal yet of Hamish Linklater (Midnight Mass) voicing the title character, though we don’t get too much of him as Bruce Wayne. Linklater heads up a cast that includes Christina Ricci as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Jamie Chung as Harley Quinn/Dr. Harleen Quinzel, and Diedrich Bader as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, all of whom appear in the trailer.
The rest of the ensemble cast includes Minnie Driver, Mckenna Grace, Eric Morgan Stuart, Michelle C. Bonilla, Krystal Joy Brown, John DiMaggio, Paul Scheer, Reid Scott, Tom Kenny, Jason Watkins, Gary Anthony Williams, Dan Donohue, David Krumholtz, Haley Joel Osment, and Toby Stephens. Batman: Caped Crusader, described as “a reimagining of the Batman mythology,” is a follow-up to Timm’s much-loved Batman: The Animated Series, with the power of Abrams and Reeves (The Batman) adding further weight.
Though Batman is, of course, a DC character owned by Warner Bros., Batman: Caped Crusader is a Prime Video series; all 10 episodes drop August 1.
