BCCI gifts special ‘NAMO’ India jersey to PM Modi – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the victorious Indian cricket team at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, on Thursday. The team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, had just returned from Barbados after securing the T20 World Cup title.
During the meeting, BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah presented PM Modi with a unique ‘NAMO’ India jersey as a token of appreciation. The Indian team, along with head coach Rahul Dravid, engaged in a meaningful discussion with the Prime Minister, sharing their experiences and insights from the tournament.
The highlight of the gathering was the moment when the team proudly displayed the T20 World Cup trophy to PM Modi, celebrating their remarkable achievement on the global stage.
“The triumphant Indian Cricket Team met with the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modiji, at his official residence today upon arrival. Sir, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your inspiring words and the invaluable support you have provided to #TeamIndia,” BCCI wrote on ‘X’ after the meeting with PM Modi.
The Indian team has departed for Mumbai after their meeting with Prime Minister Modi. The BCCI has organized a victory parade spanning 1 km, starting from Nariman Point and culminating at Wankhede Stadium. Upon reaching the stadium, a brief felicitation ceremony will be held to honor the team’s achievement.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah who witnessed the final against South Africa in Barbados on Saturday, will be responsible for presenting the Indian team with a cash prize of Rs 125 crore. This substantial reward is in recognition of their triumph in securing an ICC trophy, ending a drought that lasted more than a decade.
