What’s the latest with the Chicago Bears?
The Bears defeated the Carolina Panthers, 36-10, in dominant fashion, scoring 30 unanswered points at one point after falling behind 7-0. It was a team win as the offense and defense each did their part in the victory. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams had his best game of his young career, completing 69% of his passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns with a 126.1 passer rating. Meanwhile, the defense totaled four sacks, nabbed three takeaways and held their opponent to 21 or fewer points for the 11th straight game.
Here’s a look at the most recent and relevant Bears stories for the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 8:
After last week’s win, it was nice to see Chicago win comfortably. The Bears played well against the Los Angeles Rams, and Caleb Williams was efficient, but this was what fans have been waiting to see from Williams. The No. 1 overall pick finished with 304 yards — his second game over 300 passing yards — and two touchdowns, both to DJ Moore. Chicago will have to ride this win streak into London next Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4). It’s important they don’t let that disrupt the brand of football they’re playing.
The Chicago Bears (3-2) defeated the Carolina Panthers (1-4), 36-10, in a blowout win in Week 5. The offense and defense were both dominant in a game that was very much over at halftime. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams had his best outing as a pro, receiver DJ Moore reminded the Panthers what they’ve been missing and the defense made an impression with four sacks and three takeaways.
It was as good as we’ve seen them play in a long time and now they are over .500 at 3-2. They have now won eight games in a row at home. There’s a lot to be excited about with this team. The defense continues to dominate while the offense is starting to take big steps forward. There is still a lot to learn for this team to eventually become a Super Bowl contender, but the early stages of a good team are in motion.
