Swan River RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man from Birch River, Man., who told a family member he was planning to walk about 400 kilometres to Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation before going missing.
Donovan McDonald, 29, was last seen at around 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, leaving from Birch River, a small community 355 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, police said in a news release.
RCMP said McDonald indicated to a member of his family that he was going to walk to Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, about 400 kilometres northeast of Birch River, to visit his mother.
The man has not been seen since and was reported missing on Friday afternoon.
McDonald is described as standing six feet tall and weighing 300 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. RCMP said he was last seen wearing a grey canvas winter jacket, black hoodie, black neck warmer and tuque, dark jeans, black and grey runners and carrying a black bag.
