Bristol City Women have named Leicester City’s Stephen Kirby as their new manager.
Kirby spent two years as Leicester City Women’s first-team coach, acting as interim manager for the Foxes alongside Jennifer Foster last season.
He has previously worked with MK Dons’ academy and development squads.
“It is super exciting and I am ready to kick on and try to get us back to the WSL (Women’s Super League),” said Kirby.
“I have watched both games so far and I have been impressed with the performances.
“It is a club which fits my style and how I like the game to be played. I hope we can now get us firing on all cylinders.”
Bristol City had been without a manager since Lauren Smith stepped down from her role 12 days before the Women’s Championship season kicked off.
Smith, who left to take up a role within the Football Association as England Under-19s head coach, led Bristol City to promotion to the WSL in 2023 and their subsequent relegation a season later.
Bristol City have drawn their opening two league games of the season against Southampton and Birmingham City.
They face London City Lionesses on Sunday.
