Canada have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, marking a momentous occasion – their first-ever appearance in the prestigious tournament.
Seasoned all-rounder Saad Bin Zafar will captain the historic team. Zafar, along with batsman Aaron Johnson and pacer Kaleem Sana, bring valuable international experience to the squad. These players will be crucial in guiding the younger members through the high-pressure environment of the World Cup.
While some familiar names didn’t make the final cut, including Nikhil Dutta and Srimantha Wijeyeratne, the squad offers exciting opportunities for new faces. Young talents like Harsh Thaker, Kanwarpal Tathgur and Rayyankhan Pathan will be eager to prove themselves on the biggest stage.
Tajinder Singh will travel with the team as a reserve player, offering additional support. Four other reserve players – Aaditya Varadharajan, Ammar Khalid, Jatinder Matharu and Parveen Kumar – will be available if needed throughout the tournament.
Canada faces a challenging group stage, drawn alongside co-hosts USA, cricketing giants Pakistan and India, and Ireland. Their first match will be against USA on June 2nd in Dallas, Texas.
