Key Driver of Canada’s Appeal for Skilled Workers
A recent survey highlighted Express Entry, Canada’s immigration management system, as one of the primary reasons for the country’s growing appeal. Express Entry is designed to streamline the immigration process for skilled workers, enabling top-ranking candidates to receive invitations to apply for permanent residency. The system evaluates candidates based on a range of factors, such as work experience, education, and language proficiency, all measured using objective criteria.
In addition to Express Entry, the survey identified Canada’s relatively high employment rates among immigrants as another key factor in its attractiveness to job seekers. According to Statistics Canada, employment rates among immigrants in 2023 were as follows:
- 77.8% for those who had been in Canada for 5 years or less.
- 81.9% for immigrants who had been in Canada for 5 to 10 years.
- 84.5% for those who had been in the country for more than 10 years.
Other important aspects that make Canada an appealing destination include its strong economy, universal healthcare system, and multicultural society.
Moreover, Canada received a notable ranking in the 2024 U.S. News Best Countries list, securing 4th place with an overall score of 94.1. This ranking reflects the country’s excellence in various areas such as quality of life, business opportunities, social impact, and adaptability, factors that have contributed to its reputation as a top global destination.
