Hundreds gathered this weekend to witness the grand opening of the new boardwalk at Canada Water, marking the first time people could cross it.
On Saturday, November 2, a parade featuring giant puppets led local residents along the red pathway to celebrate the occasion.
Now open to the public, the boardwalk is a key part of the Canada Water Masterplan, an ambitious project that includes a new high street, town square, up to 3,000 new homes, and 2 million square feet of office space. The area will also feature a new leisure centre with pools, sports courts, and a gym.
The 170-meter boardwalk spans Canada Dock and links key destinations, including Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, Canada Water Library, and Deal Porters Way.
British Land, the developer, confirmed that the boardwalk will be a “no cycling area,” with security patrols in place to enforce the rule.
