CHILLIWACK — Canadian Football League star and B.C. Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke is set to visit Chilliwack next week to speak at a Sardis Falcons football event.
Sardis Falcons varsity head coach Sukh Parmar tells Fraser Valley Today Rourke is slated to speak to Sardis Falcons players, coaches, team sponsors and Sardis Falcons alumni next Friday, February 14. The 26-year-old product out of Ohio University was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2022 before spending the past two seasons in the NFL and making a return to the Lions in 2024 where he went 136-of-209 passing for 1,781 yards, 9 TDs and four interceptions, garnering an 80.3 quarterback rating. One of his best seasons came in 2022 when he threw for 3,349 yards and 25 TDs.
“We are very excited to have Nathan attend Sardis Secondary School,” said Coach Parmar. “It will be an excellent opportunity for our sponsors and players to meet him. We look forward to his talk and message to our young players. He is an excellent role model for all local athletes. His hard work, commitment, and dedication have enabled him to reach the top of his profession.”
Rourke grew up in Victoria, B.C., and starred at Ohio University where he led the Bobcats to a 25-14 record during his time as the starting quarterback, playing a key role in Ohio’s three bowl wins in 2017, 2018 and 2020. After his standout season in 2022, Rourke signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in January 2023 and would later see brief stints with New England, the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons between 2023 and 2024.
