Winnipeg police are looking for a suspect in a Christmas morning home invasion that left one person with serious injuries.
The Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a person entering a townhouse off St. Mary’s Road, in the River Park South neighbourhood, at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, police said in a news release.
Officers, who responded with a police dog, found a 36-year-old victim suffering from an assault “with an edged weapon.” That person was taken to hospital in an unstable condition, but has since improved, police said.
The suspect was no longer present. The police’s major crimes unit has taken over the investigation and is putting together a description of the suspect.
The police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the major crimes unit at 204-986-6219 or call CrimeStoppers anonymously 204-786-8477 or winnipegcrimestoppers.org
