A leading Coventry firm is looking to recruit hundreds of young people across the city as well as in Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, and Leicestershire. Jobs are currently up for grabs at The Heart of England Co-Op Society.
Steve Browne, Manager of the Food Division, said they are looking to bring in a large number of young people this year, with some of the jobs advertised paying up to £38,000. Roles are available at 38 stores across the region, including in Coventry, Nuneaton, Bulkington and Southam.
Mr Browne said he has been ‘hugely encouraged’ by the response to the recruitment drive, with around 90 people joining up so far and a range of jobs still up for grabs until September. He said they will also be looking to recruit young people over Christmas and New Year.

He said: “It represents nearly 15 per cent of the overall workforce, and there will be plenty more employment opportunities between now and September. We have a real desire to get young people involved and are still bringing people in.”
Mr Browne said that while the jobs on offer are temporary, they could lead to young people securing permanent roles within The Heart of England Co-Operative Society. He said: “We are one of the largest employers in the area and are committed to nurturing talent.”
He added: “Many people wrongly assume that we are part of a giant national organisation, and that could not be further from the truth. We are an independent co-operative society, and our roots can be traced back to Coventry in 1832.
“If anyone out there is passionate about making a difference, we could be a good fit for them. Taking up a temporary job now could be the start of a fulfilling career journey.”
