CRICKET PNG has reconfirmed its partnership with Capital Insurance Group to support its players insurancae as three national teams prepare to travel for their tours in the coming weeks.
Chief executive Richard Done said this was the fourth year signing with their insurer and it would be of great benefit to the PNG U19 Garamuts, the Lewas and the Barramundis ahead of theirs tours overseas.
“We have a lot of things going on here at Amini Park and our staff are a very important resource to us so (we’re) making sure they’re well protected,” Done said.
He said the recent performance of the PNG Barras at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies has been an exciting journey as they change focus to their One Day International Tour in Kenya.
“It’s been great, and there’s been plenty of content and plenty of discussion about their performances,” he said.
“Capital Insurance currently covers us (Cricket PNG) for when we tour away in particular. We do have some liability stuff around this ground so if someone gets injured around here, we’ve got some coverage there.
“What we want to do is extend that into a more medical type of coverage. If we can do that then we can start to provide a higher level of care for our athletes as well as for the staff.”
Meanwhile, Capital Insurance chief operating officer Richard Goswell said renewing this insurance programme gave them the privilege to work closely with skilled cricketers.
