After a dismal start to the season, it feels like a pivotal end to the transfer window for Everton. It is important after such a negative start on and off the pitch recently to find a bounce. A few ins and outs could really lift the mood around the fanbase.
It is no secret finances are tight. Ideally, a few sales would be beneficial to open some more options in the market.
For sales, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has made it clear he is open to leaving Everton. Unless there is a ready-made replacement to come in for him with Premier League experience, I would be reluctant to sell at such a late stage. I just don’t feel Beto is at the level we need. It wouldn’t surprise me if Manchester United or Chelsea came knocking about Calvert-Lewin, or Brentford should Ivan Toney depart.
Speaking of strikers, Neal Maupay looks likely to leave, given interest from Marseille. I don’t think there will be many tears shed around Goodison once he departs. Similarly, after a few domestic loans, Mason Holgate is available. Let’s get those deals done.
I would like to see us strengthen with another full-back. Kieran Trippier has been linked recently and would walk into our side. We need some back-up to support Vitaly Mykolenko.
It is also great to see we have been linked with Orel Mangala from Lyon, as we look to strengthen our midfield.
And I would love another winger to come in. Brighton showed what a killer ball can do at Goodison recently. I want to see those in the squad be pushed to keep their place. It has all become too routine.
But above all, Everton, look what happened to our backline at the start of the season without him – please keep hold of Jarrad Branthwaite!
