OHIO TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) — Diamond Run Golf Club in Ohio Township has one of the best holes in all of our area, and it’s one that has a dramatic elevation change with a stunning view.
The 9th hole at Diamond Run has tee boxes that sit at one of the highest points in Allegheny County and its design makes it an interesting one for players of all skill levels.
“Number 9 is a unique hole because it’s a Par 5 from our member tees, but from our championship set of tees, it’s actually a Par 4,” said Head Golf Professional Adam Morrison.
An elevated tee shot helps add some distance to tee shots with a forced carry.
“There’s actually a speed slot down here on the right side of the fairway that if you hit down, it’s probably going to give you an extra 50 yards into the hole that gives you a chance to hit it in two and make an eagle,” Morrison said.
From a view perspective, you can see the Pittsburgh city skyline from the elevated tee boxes.
The hole can play both into the wind and downwind, which can make it play as a different type of hole, depending on the day.
Morrison made a birdie while playing alongside KDKA’s Rich Walsh.
“Get one back before you go to the back side,” Morrison said.
