Nitish Kumar visited his hometown Bakhtiyarpur on Tuesday to oversee four construction projects in the area. He began his visit by performing puja at the Radha Krishna temple, Thakurbari, and at Sidhi Ghat.The CM inaugurated the sewerage treatment plant (STP) of the Bakhtiyarpur municipality, which serves 27 wards. The STP will collect sewage water from eight drains, treat it, and deposit the treated water into a nearby pond. He also inspected Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College and asked officials concerned to ensure that the college’s sewage water is integrated into the STP. He stressed the need for plantation work to enhance environmental protection and the aesthetic appeal of the sites.Nitish asked the departments involved to expedite ongoing projects without compromising on quality, stressing on their timely completion. He highlighted the need to beautify these sites by planting saplings to create a soothing environment for visitors.Among the projects inspected were the linkage of the Ghansurpur Ganga channel with Sidhi Ghat via Ramnagar, the beautification of the upcoming Ganga Ghat near Sidhi Ghat, and the construction progress of the Ground +4 building for Ganesh High School (10+2). For the new Ganesh High School building, the CM asked the officials to increase the height of the boundary wall, fill the low-lying areas to prevent waterlogging, and ensure the ground is properly levelled.Water resource department minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Kumar Jha, WRD additional chief secretary Chaitanya Prasad, urban development and housing department principal secretary Anand Kishore, CM’s secretary Anupam Kumar, Patna divisional commissioner Kumar Ravi, Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh, and SSP Rajiv Mishra accompanied Nitish.At Sidhi Ghat, the CM reminisced about his childhood visits and bathing rituals in the river Ganga. He expressed his interest in the ongoing projects at Sidhi Ghat and received updates from WRD ACS Prasad regarding the channel linkage, renovation, protective measures, plantation efforts, and park construction along the Ganga Ghat pathway.After performing puja at both temples and garlanding the statue of Sheel Bhadra Yaji at a memorial trust dedicated to his memory, Nitish also inspected the progress of an upcoming railway overbridge near Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College.
