Yahoo Sports’ Fantasy Football Live crew looks ahead to Sunday night’s matchup between Arizona and Green Bay – and how Trey McBride, Josh Jacobs and Dontayvion Wicks could impact fantasy managers.
Let’s turn to our Fantasy game changers for this week, powered by Ram Trucks where we identify some of the most impactful players and one of the top Fantasy matchups on the schedule, we’re taking a look at Cardinals and Packers, which is at Lambeau and feels like it could be points galore in the early slate Sunday over under on this, a little soft to me.
47.5, I felt a little like Packers favored by 5.5.
So when I say a fantasy game changer Andy Barns who comes to mind, oh, yeah, for me, this is, this is Trey mcbride.
He was this close to a to a huge fantasy performance last week.
He let a touchdown slip away.
I get it still.
He was targeted nine times.
He caught six of those.
He has not seen fewer than six opportunities in any game this season, which you probably can’t say about uh many other tight ends.
Right?
It’s been a, been a bleak year at that position.
Let’s just remember that mcbride was a target magnate in the second half last year.
He averaged 8.5 per week and he’s basically at that same pace this year.
He’s also getting downfield a bit this season more than in 2023.
Really, the only difference so far is that he hasn’t yet reached the end zone.
I think there’s a good chance that changes on Sunday against Green Bay.
It’s a defense that’s been opportunistic in the, in the passing game in terms of takeaways but also pretty vulnerable.
Um, and given up plenty of yards, the Packers have allowed the 10th most passing yards in the league, the eighth most fantasy points to tight ends.
I just, I, I like this as a potential breakout spot for a guy who might still actually finish this season as the overall tight end one.
I like that call by you a lot.
I, uh I’m gonna be predictable here because I think I say his name about twice a show, Josh Jacobs to me and, and look, this comes down to a lack of trust that I have in the way Jordan love is playing quarterback right now.
And so, you know, we gotta look at the up and down that comes with Jordan love like Jordan G and Jordan take it the way.
How do you calm down a quarterback that so far might just be inconsistent in a passing game that thought they’d be able to put up big numbers.
You run the football.
Well, I just, the Packers are going to be committed to this and if you look at Matt lafleur’s offenses in the past, he will commit to a running back that wants to take the majority of the workload.
So I don’t think it’s an accident, you know that we’re coming off a game with 19 carries, 73 yards and a touchdown.
I know that there hasn’t been a big breakout run where you’re saying, oh my God, Josh Jacobs is a beast, but I’m telling you it’s there.
And frankly, with what he can do out of the backfield, I just feel like whether it’s catching the ball, whether it’s, whether it’s running the football, Josh is gonna be a bigger, bigger part of this game as the game plan as your season goes on.
So I’m all in on Josh Jacobs South.
What do you got?
Yeah, I’m going back to the, well with Dont and Wick the Green Bay Packers wide receiver, but a lot of people were calling him one of the most popular and creative and interesting waiver wire ads in years, not even on this year in years last week and he had the matchup against the Rams.
It was the best matchup for wide receivers entering last week.
There was no Christian Watson, there was no Romeo Dobbs who got suspended.
Everything was going to be fueling up for a breakout for Wicks until it didn’t happen, two catches 20 yards on seven targets in that game.
He had another at least one, maybe even two depending on what you want to call a drop in that game.
And it’s just been a worrisome season so far for Dont and Wicks.
But the big thing here is he continues to get open.
The drop seemed to be more of a mental thing at this point because all of last year that wasn’t an issue.
He was making fantastic catches and I think we do have to put some of this as Fitz alluded to earlier on Jordan Love.
He’s only completing 20 or 28th in completion percentage from a clean pocket this year.
Of course, there’s the knee injury that might be factoring into this.
But Dont and Wicks as of right now is getting another nice matchup against the Cardinals who allow the fifth most receiving guards per play.
I’m going back to him.
The one thing to watch though.
Christian Watson is practicing limited this week.
The Packers do this.
They let their guys practice limited, then they usually sit them out another week so be sure that he’s not playing this week.
If he’s not, I think you can get a game changer in Wicks here.
