The Giants will place Kayvon Thibodeaux on the injured reserve Saturday ahead of their Week 6 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to The Athletic’s Dan Duggan.
Thibodeaux suffered a broken scaphoid bone in his wrist against the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 6 and had surgery on Wednesday to repair it.
Head coach Brian Daboll said Friday that Thibodeaux was considered “week-to-week” at the time, but will now miss a minimum of four games per the NFL’s IR rules
Overall, he’s expected to miss 4-6 weeks following the surgery, according to Duggan.
Thibodeaux has just two sacks and 12 combined tackles through five games this season. After recording four sacks during his rookie year in 2022, he burst onto the scene last year with 11.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and 50 combined tackles.
The Giants have five more games until their bye in Week 11. They return to action in Week 12 on Sunday, Nov. 24 at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
